Our Mission
The mission of the Lawrence North Band is to achieve the highest standards music performance and character; promote the value of music in our community and the significant role it plays in the cultural, intellectual, and social lives and development of our students; foster family and excellence among its members, and provide its membership with opportunities for personal growth and leadership.
General Information
Lawrence North Band is one of the largest organizations in the high school comprised of over 140 students. There are 3 concert bands and 1 jazz ensemble that meet during the school day. Each band is co-taught, with multiple directors present throughout the rehearsal. Private lessons are available to any student during the class period for a fee. In addition to their band class, there are multiple opportunities provided through other external and internal organizations such as Solo & Ensemble, All-State, All-District, All-Region, honor bands, Show Band, Pit Orchestra, Pep band, as well as the Marching Pride of Lawrence Township.
Concert Ensembles
Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble is considered the top performing ensemble in the band program and is available to students in all four grades. In order to be a part of this group, a student must first demonstrate a high level of maturity, technical proficiency, complete an audition, and demonstrate a commitment to rehearsal and practice time. Students in this ensemble must diligently pursue individual as well as ensemble goals on their instrument. Students in this ensemble are required to participate in Solo & Ensemble, pep band, and are encouraged to participate in All-District or All-State. Private lessons are encouraged. Students in this ensemble are strongly encouraged to perform with the Marching Pride.

Symphonic Band

Symphonic Band is the second performing ensemble in the band program and is available to students in all four grades. Students who would like to be in this band must demonstrate a high level of maturity, technical proficiency, and a commitment to rehearsal and practice time. Students in this ensemble are required to participate in Solo & Ensemble. Students in the Marching Pride of Lawrence Township are automatically placed in Symphonic Band. Private lessons are encouraged. Students in this ensemble are strongly encouraged to perform with the Marching Pride.

Concert Band

Concert Band is our third band and is comprised of students in all four grades. To be a member of this group, a student must demonstrate a commitment to rehearsal and practice time. Preparing portions of the all-region band audition music is required. Private lessons are strongly encouraged.

Additional Ensemble Opportunities
Jazz Bands
LN Bands have two jazz band classes during the day. Students in this band are selected through an audition process and placed in either Jazz 1 or Jazz 2. Both jazz ensembles perform throughout the school year at both school events, concerts, and community events. Students in jazz ensemble must also be in a concert ensemble to be eligible for a jazz band.
Show Band
Show Band is an after-school ensemble that performs with our award winning Lawrence North Show Choir. Students meet to learn music and then travel with the show choir to compete throughout the competitive show choir season. Spots in this ensemble are limited.
Pit Orchestra
Pit Orchestra is an ensemble that meets after school to learn and play music for the Spring Musical with the choir/theatre program. Students in this ensemble must demonstrate a commitment to after school rehearsals and individual practice.
