Welcome to the Lawrence North Concert Band Program!!
Students playing the LN Concert Band Program will be required to play an etude/solo excerpt and 3 Major Scales roughly every four to six weeks. Major scales required in concert band will be one octave, scales in Symphonic Band will be two octaves for woodwinds and mostly one octave for brass, and scales in Wind Ensemble will be two-three octaves required for all instruments.
This will be a total of 4 etudes/excerpts and all 12 Major Scales in the Fall Semester, and two etudes/solos in the Spring Semester. The following is the schedule for each etude and solo:
- September 2nd: 1st Etude, and concert C, F, and Bb major scales are due.
- October 14th: 2nd Etude, and concert Eb, Ab, Db major scales are due.
- November 18th: 3rd Etude, and concert Gb, G, and D major scales are due.
- December 19th: 4th Etude, and concert A, E, and B major scales are due.
- February 3rd: 5th Etude/Solo & Ensemble selection is due.
- March 17th: 6th Etude/State Solo & Ensemble selection is due.
Students will have the week of the due date to play their etude/scales for a director during class. If a student is absent all of the days available to play for a director, they are required to play it at the next immediate day they are in class.
